About the Breezer

The Breezer is a German all-metal low-wing ultralight that has been manufactured by Breezer Aircraft in Bredstedt (Schleswig-Holstein) since 2001. The concept was developed by engineer Ralf Magnussen in the 1990s as the Aerostyle Breezer prototype. In 2006, entrepreneur Dirk Ketelsen took over serial production and founded the current Breezer Aircraft GmbH & Co. KG. Since then, the Breezer has established itself as one of the highest-quality German all-metal ultralights on the market.

What sets the Breezer apart is its airframe made entirely from aluminum sheet – no composites, no fabric, just solid metal construction reminiscent of certified aircraft. Three main variants are currently offered: the B400-6 as a 600 kg ultralight with a 100 hp Rotax 912 ULS, the EASA-certified B600 as an LSA version, and the Breezer Sport with up to 141 hp from a Rotax 915 iS and an impressive 270 km/h cruise speed. The standard B400-6 cruises at around 200 km/h while burning 16–18 liters per hour.

Buyers looking for a used Breezer should expect prices between EUR 50,000 and EUR 125,000. Older B400 models with basic equipment start from around EUR 50,000, while well-equipped B400-6 and B600 models with modern avionics range from EUR 85,000 to EUR 125,000.

The Breezer's greatest strengths are its outstanding build quality, the long service life of the aluminum airframe, the wide range of equipment options including IFR-capable avionics, and its pleasant handling characteristics. Weaknesses include a relatively high empty weight, the thin aluminum skin that dents easily when handled carelessly, and relatively high control forces which give the Breezer stability but make it feel less agile.

The Breezer is ideal for pilots seeking a robust, low-maintenance touring ultralight with a long service life who are willing to invest a bit more for quality. For those who want an ultralight with the look and durability of a certified aircraft, the Breezer is a compelling choice.
