About the A32

The Aeroprakt A32 Vixxen is the logical evolution of the proven A22 Foxbat, aimed at pilots who desire greater cruise speed without sacrificing the typical Aeroprakt virtues. Designed by Yuri Yakovlev in Kyiv, the A32 combines the docile flying characteristics of its predecessor with significantly improved aerodynamics and modern all-metal construction.

Unlike the fabric-covered A22, the A32 is an all-metal aluminum aircraft with fabric covering only on the control surfaces. The aerodynamic improvements are extensive: a flush wing-to-fuselage fairing, an all-flying horizontal stabilizer, and optimized engine baffling ensure that the A32, powered by the same Rotax 912 ULS (100 hp), achieves a cruise speed of 200–215 km/h – approximately 50 km/h faster than the A22. The stall speed remains a forgiving 50 km/h. Takeoff and landing are accomplished in under 100 meters.

Buying a used Aeroprakt A32 Vixxen on the German market is possible, though availability is considerably more limited than the A22, as the A32 has only been in serial production since 2017. Used A32s trade between EUR 70,000 and EUR 130,000. New prices are approximately EUR 110,000–140,000 depending on equipment.

Strengths: Outstanding value for money – over 200 km/h cruise speed with just 100 hp at moderate fuel consumption (approximately 17–18 l/h). Robust all-metal construction offering long service life and straightforward maintenance. Excellent visibility through the high-wing configuration and a wide cockpit. Impressive STOL capability despite the higher cruise speed. Weaknesses: The A32 tends to float during landing, requiring precise approach speed management. The used market supply is limited. The Rotax 912 ULS is the only available engine option – unlike the VL3 or Bristell, there are no more powerful alternatives.

The A32 Vixxen is aimed at pilots looking to upgrade from the A22 or similar docile ultralights who want good touring performance without sacrificing the safety of a high-wing design. In comparison, the A32 offers less peak performance than the VL3 or Shark UL, but provides significantly more comfort and more forgiving flight behavior.
